How to make Apple & Rhubarb Crumble wax melts - Mixology #8

What scents are in this recipe?

How did you choose to use these scents?

Apple & Rhubarb Crumble is a scent that takes me back to being a child and my Mum cooking a delicious dessert, we would devour all of the sweet treats that she made. Apple & Rhubarb Crumble is a sweet and food inspired scent that will make you want to grab a pot of custard and start digging in. But wait! Don’t eat the wax!!! ;)

Apple Candy is a crisp sweet scented wax melt that is fresh and uplifting. It is a perfectly sweet scent that will make you yearn for a sweet crisp green apple. The green Apple Candy scent has a delicious depth and tartness to the fragrance and will your home with a wonderfully sweet scent so was a perfect choice to be part of this mixology.

Rhubarb & Custard had to be the main feature for this mixology. Since it’s feature in our June subscription box, Rhubarb & Custard has been so popular and flying off the shelves. On a bed of sweet custard lies the sharp tangy aroma of freshly picked rhubarb. The perfect accompaniment to the sweet tartness of Apple Candy.

How do you test these?

We spend all week both at home and in the warehouse office trying out different combinations of the cosy pods together to work out the best scent mixture. This can go really well or equally not so well. Some scents do don’t work well mixed at all and that is why we rigorously test the combination ideas ourselves to ensure they will fill your home with the aroma you are looking for. We test these in both electric wax warmers and tea light warmers.

What is the best amount to mix?

Fragrance is a very subjective thing. What one person can smell can vary a lot from someone else. This is ok, the world would be very boring if we were all the same! We have found that the best amount to use for making Apple & Rhubarb Crumble is equal parts Apple Candy and Rhubarb & Custard.

Can I change the mix?

If you try out the mixology but decide for your taste you’d like to alter it, go ahead. There are no set rules when scent mixing. It’s all fun and about experimenting. You can get the whole family involved and try and get the kids to work out what scent you’ve made. Have fun with it and as always we’d love to hear your thoughts on this weeks mixology.

What other mixology sessions have you done?

So far to feature on the Cosy Candles Mixology we have had Strawberry Cheesecake, Caramel Latte, Lemon Pound Cake, Cinnamon donuts, Raspberry & Mint sorbet and Coconut & Blueberry Muffins. These have all been very popular with many of our regular customers trying the mixes out and finding new favourite scents. Have you tried any new mixology’s?

When deciding which scents to add to our mixology list we put a lot of thought into our brainstorming time to come up with a range of scents we thought most of you would appreciate. From asking questions and looking through the comments you have made on our Cosy Candles - Community Facebook Group we could see a strong liking for foodie or sweet scents.
